What is the difference between HFE and HLE? ›

The HFE letter is far more streamlined and comprehensive than the HLE letter. It asks for all the information needed to assess you upfront, and also gives you your flat purchase, grants and loan eligibility information upfront. No joke, this is pretty revolutionary.

The most common form of adult HH has been linked to variants (C282Y, H63D, and S65C) of the HFE gene, which codes for a protein responsible for iron regulation. Allele frequency varies by ethnicity.

The C282Y mutation in the HFE (hemochromatosis) gene is the main one that causes hemochromatosis, and 83% of hemochromatosis patients are YY homozygotes (1). The second variant of the HFE gene, the H63D polymorphism, is not per se associated with hemochromatosis, but it acts synergistically with the C282Y mutation (1).

h_fe is the forward transfer characteristic, i.e. transistor gain when used in the common emitter mode. h_fe is exactly the same as the transistor Beta, β - it is just a little more correct to use it in datasheets.

Current Gain : It is the ratio of change in collector current to the change in emitter current, denoted by α , its value is near to unity. It is also defined as the ac current gain.

Hfe is the value from the data sheet which is typical maximum current gain from that transistor in the common emitter configuration. Beta is amongst other things, dependent on the configuration of the transistor.

The most prevalent disease-causing HFE mutation in the general population is the 845G polymorphism, which causes a p. Cys282Tyr amino acid substitution (C282Y) in the HFE protein.

Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is an autosomal recessive disease caused by a defective iron absorption. C282Y is the most frequent HFE gene mutation causing HH in Northern European populations and their descendants.
