LinkedIn can be a great channel to build your personal brand and even establish yourself as an influential thought leader in your niche. But to maximize the platform's benefits, you need to understand how it works, what drives the best responses, and how to best use its various tools.

Follow these tips and you'll be well on your way to building a stronger LinkedIn presence in 2021.
1. Post regularly, but not too much
Maintaining a consistent posting process is important on LinkedIn, but posting too much can hurt your presence.
Through my researchAnalyseWe found that influencers who post more than 50 times a month on LinkedIn get an average of 26 interactions per post, while those who post 30-50 times a month get an average of 56 interactions and those who post less than 30 times , see even more engagement on average.
Based on this, we recommend posting at least 2-3 times per week but no more than 30 times per month for optimal engagement.
Timing for posting is also important - try posting in the morning, maybe on your way to work. You can then revisit those posts at the end of the day or evening to respond to your comments and increase engagement.
2. Avoid too much automation
Automation can save you a lot of time, but it can also affect your visibility.
For example, it's easy to set up a rule that says, "If there's a blog that mentions 'X' keywords, post it to my LinkedIn feed." However, we've seen it become extremely common, with some people Post hundreds of times a month.
As mentioned in the point above, posting too much on LinkedIn can decrease your engagement, while LinkedIn's systems can detect when people are using automation and hide your posts so no one can see them.
If you use automation tools on LinkedIn, you should still limit the number of posts to no more than 30 times per month.
3. Share videos and visual content
Research shows that articles with pictures are obtained94%more total views. It's not just about adding images, you can also add videos, slides or podcasts or even documents to a postLinkedIn was added in 2019.
Documents can actually be turned into carousel posts on LinkedIn: if you upload a series of images as a document, LinkedIn will display them as a carousel that users can swipe sideways.
One thing to note when adding content is that LinkedIn users prefer to upload their content directly to their platform rather than posting a link to another website that hosts it. For example, if you're posting a video, it's better to upload it to LinkedIn than posting a YouTube link.
4. Don't just share your own content
The rule states:
"For each self-service post, you must republish one relevant post and, more importantly, share four relevant pieces of content written by others."
By following this rule, you not only share your own content, but also provide your audience with useful and relevant information written by others. This can be content, news and trends from industry leaders.
At the same time, it is also important to add your opinion. Many people like or share posts they have read, or sometimes without even reading them. You can get noticed by adding your own opinion, questions or other comments in the comments.
Tell people what you think about the points raised in the article and don't be afraid to respectfully disagree and suggest a different point of view. This can spark a discussion and you will find that the post gets a lot more engagement.
5. Don't be a salesman
While you're obviously trying to promote yourself and your business, don't be overly pushy in your LinkedIn posts.
For example, try not to post directly about your product as it may look like an advertisement and turn people off. It's best to engage in thought-leadership style conversations, and if people like what you're saying, they'll see your website and product offering.
This phase is more about building relationships and making new contacts.

7. Tag influencers and collaborators
When you tag another user on your LinkedIn post, you'll be notified of the mention, which encourages engagement.
You don't have to be directly connected to the people you tag, you can also tag people who are second degree connections. However, it's important to only tag people who are relevant to the post, otherwise it could be considered spam.
Be strategic about who you mention and try not to mention too many of the same people over and over again. Also, don't tag too many people in the post — a post with a long list of names looks a bit spammy.
8. Create LinkedIn-specific content
When you create a post, there is a temptation to upload it somewhere: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook page, etc. However, remember that you will have many of the same followers on each of these channels and they will see the same post from you everywhere, which can quickly become repetitive and boring.
It is much better to create separate posts for each platform.
Adding hashtags to your posts helps get your content discovered and helps LinkedIn categorize your posts and differentiate them from other content.
It's important to always add relevant hashtags, not just popular ones. When used well, hashtags make it easier for others to find your content in their searches. Using hashtags also ensures that your article will appear as one of the options when members search for information on a specific topic.

What's really useful about the recommended hashtag page is that it shows you the number of people who are following the hashtags, allowing you to prioritize those with the most followers. It is important not to use genuine niche hashtags with no followers.
10. Optimize your content based on analytics
To access analytics for the posts you've shared, click "Mi'Icon at the top of the LinkedIn homepage.
Sob'Administer', beat'Posts and Activities'. There you will see all your recent posts with a rating icon under each one. Here you'll find real-time insights into the posts you've shared, which can help you better understand your audience and which posts performed better than others.
This information can help you understand if you've managed to optimize your post to be seen by the right people. Write down which posts performed best, and consider why they worked and what you can replicate.
Was it because you used a specific hashtag or because you tagged a specific influencer? Was it because that particular topic touched people?
Once you have an idea of why, you can try replicating this post style and test whether or not you get better engagement.
